He has worked in the Milton Keynes area since 2004 and, while enjoying all parts of general practice, has an interest in respiratory medicine. He likes cooking Asian food, running to destress, and bringing up two teenage children.

JANINE WELHAM

General Manager

Janine has worked for the NHS for the last 15 years, the last 8 years with Primary Care in Milton Keynes. Janine will be involved in managing all the business aspects of the practice. Janine welcomes patient feedback and looks forward to the opportunity of working closely with the Patient Participation Group.

VICKY KETTLE

Community Service Manager and Deputy Practice Manager

Vicky has worked for the NHS for 19 years of which the last 14 years has been at Whaddon. She started as a receptionist and working in the Community Cardiology service. Vicky feels proud to have grown with the surgery and has enjoyed implementing our other community services such as Community Gynaecology and Community Respiratory/AIRS and most recently developing our Long Covid Service PCAS. Vicky also has an interest in research and ways of improving patient care across both sites.

Branch Manager

Sharon has been with Water Eaton Health Centre since August 2001 as Practice Manager. Since the merge of the business, she is now the Branch Manager at Water Eaton Health Centre, still looking after the patients.

Niv is the Assistant Practice Manager for Whaddon Healthcare. She works at both sites and believes in patient-centered healthcare and keeps that as the focal point of her work.

AJ joined Whaddon Healthcare in 2019. AJ is responsible for IT and leading technical process improvement.

Reception & Events Manager and Gynae HCA

Mel has worked for Whaddon Healthcare for over 10 years. She has experience in Cardiology, Respiratory and Gynaecology. Mel organises the events for Whaddon and is passionate about the local community and fundraising.

SARAH RILEY

Communication and Wellbeing Manager

Sarah joined Whaddon Healthcare in 2020. She is responsible for quality improvement and looking for new ways of working, following the covid pandemic. She is passionate about HR, governance and driving change.

KYLIE PLUMB

Operations and Delivery Manager

Kylie is the Operations and Delivery Manager for Whaddon Healthcare.  She has experience in project management, contracts, and finance and previously worked as the CROWN Primary Care Network Manager before joining the Whaddon team.

Interim Reception Manager

Tessa joined Whaddon Healthcare the summer of 2021 as Patient Advisor and now fills the role of Interim Reception Manager. Her background is in Hospitality/Customer Service but decided to make a career change centred around Healthcare, following the COVID Pandemic. Tessa is passionate about patient care and thrives to provide a welcoming environment for anyone who visits our practice.

Dr Creed first joined Whaddon Healthcare in 2016 as a registrar and stayed on as a salaried GP after completing her training in 2017. Since then, she has completed a post graduate diploma in ENT.

Dr Shamim graduated from Pakistan and obtained her membership & fellowship in Obstetrics & Gynaecology from Pakistan before relocating to the UK. On successful completion of her GP training in the UK and obtaining diploma in Obs and Gynae, she joined the Whaddon team in 2020 as a salaried GP. Dr Shamim has a specialist interest in Women’s health.

Dr. Pathirana grew up in Malawi where she graduated from the University of Malawi. She moved to the UK in 2015 where she worked as a clinical research fellow in London prior to undertaking GP training in Milton Keynes. Since completion of her training in 2020 she joined the Whaddon Team as a salaried GP.

Mirnalini is from Sri Lanka ,She pursued her undergraduate studies in Russia before moving to the UK in 2019.She underwent GP training in Milton Keynes and joined Whaddon team as a registrar and continued as Salaried GP after completion of her training in 2023.

DR NATALIA LASOCKI

BSc (Hons) MBBS MEd DIC DRCOG - GP with extended role in Menopause

Natalia graduated from University College London Medical School in 2011 and trained in London and Leicestershire. She also has a degree in Medical Education. She has been working as a GP in Milton Keynes area since 2018. Natalia has a special interest in menopause treatment and obtained her Advanced Certificate in Menopause Management from the British Menopause Society in 2023. She enjoys many aspects of General Practice, including Paediatrics, Gynaecology and Dermatology, and has a keen interest in lifestyle medicine.

DR MOHAMED HEGAB

Dr Hegab graduated in 2017 and trained in the UK, with experience in general paediatrics, neonatology in Causeway hospital, and a fellowship at the Royal Brompton Hospital in paediatric cardiology, respiratory medicine, and intensive care. He completed his GP training in Bedford, East of England Deanery, and enjoys caring for patients of all ages. Outside of work, Dr Hegab enjoys sports including football, volleyball, hiking, and travelling.

DR SYED RAZA HUSSAIN

Dr. Hussain joined the team after completing his General Practice training in Bedford, where he developed a strong foundation in holistic, patient-centered care. Originally from Pakistan, he brings a warm, approachable style and a deep commitment to supporting patients through every stage of life. He has a special interest in chronic disease management, preventative health, and empowering patients through education. With a diverse background and multilingual abilities, Dr. Hussain is dedicated to providing high-quality, culturally sensitive care to the community.

Joel grew up in Milton Keynes and graduated from Nottingham University in 2022. He completed his foundation years at Bedford Hospital before moving back to Milton Keynes to undertake GP training. He is currently in his second year of GP training.

Fatima went to medical school in Leicester and also completed her foundation years there, before moving to Milton Keynes for GP Training. When she is not in the practice, you’ll usually find her out exploring - whether it’s hiking to a waterfall, wandering along a beach or chasing the perfect sunset.

TOM MCNALLY

Tom has been a paramedic for 20 plus years and has been working exclusively in primary care for 9. He also works as the paramedic workforce lead for the BLMK training hub. Tom has a background in education and was a senior lecturer in paramedic science in the past. Tom can see acute presentations of illness and can prescribe medications.

MELANIE SUMNER

Private Travel Health

She moved to MK Hospital in 1989 working in Gynaecology . In 1998 she came into primary care, alongside the responsible GP, she developed and shaped a new GP Practice at MK Village . As the lead nurse, Mel was responsible for a team of nurses and the Nursing service. In 2006, Mel qualified as an Independent Nurse Prescriber In 2020, Mel moved practice to Whaddon Healthcare to work as a Specialist Nurse Practitioner, working alongside the GP and ANP team. Mel's areas of interest are Gynaecology , Asthma and dermatology. She has a special intertest in Travel Medicine and Travel Health.

KAREN SMYTH

Nurse Manager - RGN (1986) Bsc Nursing Practice

Karen joined the team in 2013 and now manages the nursing and health care assistant teams. She is an Advanced Nurse Practitioner and Independent Prescriber with special interest in Respiratory.

VICKI WILSON

Lead Oxygen Nurse

Vicki is a respiratory nurse specialist in AIRS and home oxygen lead nurse. Prior to this she worked for many years in Milton Keynes Hospital as a respiratory specialist nurse caring for acutely unwell respiratory patients and worked in the oxygen outpatient assessment service. She has undertaken many post-graduation courses including ARTP spirometry certification, independent nurse prescriber, COPD, asthma, ARTP Certificate of Competence in Blood Gas Sampling and Analysis and a NMIC minor illness certification. Vicki has been involved in many local respiratory projects. She enjoys completing home oxygen audits which she has been able to show at many respiratory conferences. The audits have been acknowledged by both the hospital and community teams and have changed practice which has improved patient care. She is also interested in functional breathing and has recently completing the Buteyko Breathing course to become a Buteyko Breathing Practitioner.

RIA GUMUS

Practice Nurse

Ria Gumus BSc (Hons) Registered Nurse, successfully qualified in Adult Nursing in April 2020 and has enjoyed the two years since learning new skills within District Nursing. She has a keen interest in woundcare and Diabetes management. Ria is the newest member of the Nursing Team in Whaddon Medical Centre having joined in June 2022 and is thoroughly enjoying running her clinics. She will be undertaking Practice Nurse courses throughout the year to further her skillset.

Practice Nurse - Diabetes

Martha qualified as a registered nurse in 2018. She worked in Acute Medicine and A&E for the first 2 years of being qualified. She joined Whaddon Healthcare in June 2022 and is currently undertaking her General Practice Nurse course to further her skill set.

Practice Nurse

Katie qualified as a Registered Nurse in 2015 with a BSc (Hons) in Adult Nursing from the University of Northampton. She started off on medical assessment wards before becoming a sister on a general medical ward for 5 years before adventuring into primary care. Katie has enjoyed the variety of care that working as a general practice nurse brings and is specifically interested in diabetes, women’s health, and wound care.

Practice Nurse - Special interest in Respiratory conditions

Niamh qualified as a Registered Nurse in 2017 with a BSc (Hons) from the University of Bedfordshire. After working in ICU and Offender Care settings she made my way into Primary Care. Niamh is an independent non-medical prescriber and has a particular passion for long term respiratory conditions. Niamh has a personal interest in women’s health equality and contraception. She is an avid book reader and is always accepting book recommendations!

MAXINE JACKAMAN

Practice Nurse

Maxine has been a nurse for 47 years, working in the community as a district nurse, long term conditions and also worked as a community support nurse. Maxine has worked as manager in a Care Home for old and frail patients. Maxine joined Whaddon Healthcare as part of the Covid Vaccination programme and now supports the Home Oxygen team.

Practice Nurse - Special Interest in Diabetes

Kate qualified in 2004 and has worked in Primary Care for 10 years. She is a Nurse Prescriber and has a special interest in Diabetes.

HELEN HOWE

Respiratory Nurse

Helen is a Respiratory Nurse specialist in the AIRS and Home Oxygen Services. She joined the team in 2023. Helen started her career as a staff nurse and then junior sister at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS trust on an acute medical/Respiratory ward where she was NIV and education link nurse. With a growing interest in Respiratory medicine, she became a Respiratory Nurse specialist at The Royal Wolverhampton Hospitals NHS Trust, working across primary and secondary care delivering hospital at home service, home oxygen visits, admission avoidance and specialist inpatient care and advice for a range of Respiratory conditions including bronchiectasis, COPD, difficult asthma, and interstitial lung disease. Taking a career break to move to Northamptonshire and raise a young family, she returned to nursing working first in medical outpatients and then as a practice nurse performing long term condition reviews in asthma and COPD. She has completed diplomas in Asthma and COPD and is ARTP registered for performing and interpreting spirometry. She hopes to complete her nurse prescribing course. As a mum of teenage boys, when not working, she is a taxi for their sporting and social events.

Danielle is a registered nursing associate. She previously worked in A&E for 9 years. Having finished the GPN course, Danielle has joined our practice nursing team. She is very family orientated, enjoys spending time with her children and loves reading, cake making and art.

Stacey joined the Whaddon Healthcare Community Team in 2017. She has experience in Reception and also as a HCA. Stacey is currently in her 3rd year of University, training as a Nursing Associate.

RUTH THOMAS

Lead Respiratory Nurse Specialist

Ruth is the lead respiratory nurse specialist in AIRS. Prior to this she led pulmonary rehabilitation and worked for many years as a practice nurse with special interest in those with long term conditions. She runs a local respiratory interest group affiliated to the Primary Care Respiratory Society-UK and has also developed and delivered training on behalf of the International Primary Care Respiratory Group as well as delivered training Education for Health nationally as well as locally. She was on the editorial board for the PCRU journal, pulmonary rehabilitation lead for Association of Respiratory Nurse Specialists, sat on British Thoracic Society pulmonary rehab guidelines update and NHS England pulmonary rehab steering group, as well as having had a voluntary role as British Lung Foundation nurse. She has undertaken many post-graduation courses including ARTP spirometry certification, independent nurse prescriber, allergy, COPD, bronchiectasis, asthma, exercise trainer course, and recently completed an MSc in respiratory medicine. SUSAN O’FARRELL

Sue started working at Whaddon House Surgery in 2008 as a receptionist. After a few months she started training as an HCA and qualified shortly after. Sue is now our Senior Hca and can also fit monitors for our Cardiology department.

KATYE O’FARRELL

Katye joined Whaddon Healthcare as a volunteer. After observing the HCA clinics, she completed an NVQ level 3 apprenticeship and has now been with us as a fully qualified HCA since 2016.

Charlotte joined Whaddon Healthcare as a Receptionist in 2020 and has recently started a role as a Health Care Assistant in 2021.

NATALIE LEE

Natalie started at Whaddon Healthcare on the 1st of September 2021 as a HCA. Previous to joining the team, Natalie worked at MKUH for 8 years as a maternity care assistant on the day unit.

GILL JONES

Gill has worked for the NHS for 42 years, her first years were mainly working in hospitals in Hertfordshire and Surrey, where she gained experience in orthopaedics, medical, children’s wards and A/E. Gill was one of the first in the country to complete her NVQ level 3 and then went on to work in oncology and heamtology, working close by the research specalist. Gill previously worked in another Milton Keynes practice for 18 years, she joined the team at Whaddon in January 2023.

SANDY AUSTIN

PCN Care Co-ordinator

Sandy previously worked for the NHS for 9 years: Starting as a receptionist in a local GP surgery, then training up to be a phlebotomist and Health Care Assistant. Sandy left in 2009 to specialise in smoking cessation – moving on from that role to become a Pharmaceutical Rep in 2014 where she gained an ABPI Certification in 2016. Sandy returned to the NHS in the role of Care Coordinator in August 2020, employed to work for CROWN PCN across 3 Surgeries. Sandy's role also incorporates Social Prescriber.

ANNA BRIGHT

Social Prescriber

Anna has recently joined the Crown PCN team as our Social Prescribing Link Worker working across Whaddon Healthcare and Red House Surgery. Anna graduated in 2018 with a degree in Sports Therapy (BSc) and has previously worked for a semi-professional sports team. Anna has a passion for helping people and supporting individual’s needs.

DAWN GIBSON

Mental Health Practitioner

Dawn started her mental health career as a volunteer for the Samaritans which led her to enrol in a mental health nursing course. She qualified as a mental health nurse in 2005 and worked in an acute inpatient unit in Luton and was also part of a new pilot scheme before joining the Campbell Centre in 2008. Dawn felt privileged to be able to support people in their journey to recovery who were at their most vulnerable and enjoyed the patient contact. Dawn joined Whaddon in order to maintain patient contact, whilst working in a primary care setting. She hopes to make a valuable contribution to the team by using all the experience gained in mental health to enhance the service for our patients.

Emma is a Community Health Care Assistant, who began working in the NHS 24 years ago. She joined the Community Heart failure service in December 2024 and is really enjoying learning new skills in. Emma is dedicated to supporting our patients with their care and ensuring they feel listened to and valued.

JENNIE HARMSWORTH

Respiratory Physiologist

Jennie graduated from the University of Brighton with a degree in Physiotherapy in 2008. Focusing on a career in respiratory physiotherapy she worked for many years in London at UCLH and Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital with a particular interest in intensive care and post-surgical rehabilitation. Following the covid-19 pandemic, Jennie moved out of London and joined Whaddon as part of the PCAS and AIRS services in 2021. As a respiratory physiotherapist Jennie has a specialist interest in dysfunctional breathing, breathlessness management, airway clearance and chronic cough. Jennie is currently working towards becoming a Bradcliff Breathing practitioner and is studying for a qualification in personal training.

Heart Failure Nurse

Sue qualified as a registered nurse in 1989 and has over 30 years cardiology nursing experience, including Cardio-thoracic intensive care and being the Senior Sister of the Coronary Care Unit at Milton Keynes university hospital for 12 years. She has completed her ENB 249 Cardio-thoracic nursing course, ENB 998- Teaching and Assessing course and Post Graduate Certificate in Health services Management. Sue has currently been in the role of Community Heart Failure nurse since January 2020 and successfully completed her Master’s Module in Chronic heart failure. Sue has always been passionate about caring for patients and empowering them with knowledge for their heart failure journey.

MEGAN GRIFFIN

Heart Failure Nurse

Megan trained at Kings College London for 3 years before qualifying in 2019. She previously worked in Cardiology/CCU for 4 years at Milton Keynes University Hospital. Megan has a key interest in Cardiology and completed a Level 7 Cardiac care course in 2023 and more recently a Chronic Failure Course with Glasgow Caledonian University. Megan is passionate about supporting individuals with the management of their heart failure.

Rebecca is a Cardiology and Heart Failure Nurse Specialist with a deep-rooted passion for cardiovascular care. She has been working in the NHS since 2015 and qualified in 2018, dedicating her entire career to cardiology. Rebecca is committed to delivering evidence-based, compassionate care and supporting patients through every stage of their heart health journey. VICKY KETTLE

Community Service Manager and Deputy Practice Manager

Vicky has worked for the NHS for 19 years of which the last 14 years has been at Whaddon. She started as a receptionist and working in the Community Cardiology service. Vicky feels proud to have grown with the surgery and has enjoyed implementing our other community services such as Community Gynaecology and Community Respiratory/AIRS and most recently developing our Long Covid Service PCAS. Vicky also has an interest in research and ways of improving patient care across both sites.

HELEN HOWE

Respiratory Nurse

Helen is a Respiratory Nurse specialist in the AIRS and Home Oxygen Services. She joined the team in 2023. Helen started her career as a staff nurse and then junior sister at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS trust on an acute medical/Respiratory ward where she was NIV and education link nurse. With a growing interest in Respiratory medicine, she became a Respiratory Nurse specialist at The Royal Wolverhampton Hospitals NHS Trust, working across primary and secondary care delivering hospital at home service, home oxygen visits, admission avoidance and specialist inpatient care and advice for a range of Respiratory conditions including bronchiectasis, COPD, difficult asthma, and interstitial lung disease. Taking a career break to move to Northamptonshire and raise a young family, she returned to nursing working first in medical outpatients and then as a practice nurse performing long term condition reviews in asthma and COPD. She has completed diplomas in Asthma and COPD and is ARTP registered for performing and interpreting spirometry. She hopes to complete her nurse prescribing course. As a mum of teenage boys, when not working, she is a taxi for their sporting and social events.
